First Annual Mom's Night
We want to extend a warm thank you for all the mom's who attended our First Annual Mom's Night at The Dresser. We had a great group of fun ladies in attendance. Our vendor attendees had a great time and we are so thankful for their support.
Enjoy this little Festivity Recap!
Meghann Herter of Pink Paper Design

We just love Meghann! Not only is she absolutely adorable, but we have known Meghann for many years. She came to us as a bride, and then because she wanted to try her luck in the bridal industry, she began to work at The Dresser as a consultant. With the dream of starting her own company, Meghann began Pink Paper Design. She makes the most lovely invitations. She even has an amazing Peacock feather invite that we all think is the cat's pajamas. You will too!

Colette of Colette's Catering

We were so excited to have Colette from Colette's Catering attend our fun night. Her dishes were simply delicious. Our personal favorite was the asparagus with proscuitto. Her red velvet cake wasn't too shabby either. Her friendly and informative staff were amazing with our mom's, many who still needed to plan for their child's rehearsal dinner and bridal shower. Colette has been a friend of The Dresser for many many years and we look forward to having her attend our future events. Next time come hungry!

Liz Crupi of Better Artistry

Liz Crupi is also an old friend of The Dresser. All of our staff has used her personally on many occasions. We also refer many very happy brides and attendants to her. She is not only very easy to work with, but has a ton of experience. According to Liz, "a good artist should make you look like yourself only better. Makeup needs to: look good close up as well as far away, to last all day without looking like a mask and should look fabulous in photos." Using an artist will help to make the wedding day less stressful as well as add a special touch to a memorable day. With 21 years of makeup experience, Liz specializes in print and wedding makeup and will travel to your location. She even will schedule a trial with you to ensure your happiness on your wedding day without any unexpected surprises. Another great convenience is that Liz has worked on many occasions with another one of our preferred vendors, Diane Heinemeyer, from Salon Lujon. They are a great team when booked together and are very familiar with wedding day preparations.

Diane Heinemeyer from Salon Lujon

Diane has been styling all The Dresser employee hair for many years. Our consultant, Alice, has even been seeing Diane for over 12 years! She is the best when it comes to color and highlights and our referrals rave about her to us all the time. She is very closely located, just in downtown Fullerton, but will travel to fit your needs. A good friend of Liz Crupi at Better Artistry, Diane and Liz work very well together and have done countless weddings together. Very professional and an amazing artist. Her updos are beautiful and last all day.

Go Green!
A huge trend in wedding planning this year has been the "Go Green!" movement. From recycled paper invitations to seedling tree wedding favors. The trend has hit every wedding across the country.
Use these green ideas when planning your wedding:
-Book your wedding near your home. Make a conscious effort to use more local vendors to decrease your wedding's carbon footprint.
- Try looking at in stock wedding gowns. Why not purchase something in your size that is already in the store. Not only will this be very convenient, but will cut down on the unnecessary waste of producing another dress.
-Recycled invitations. Contact Pink Paper Designs, Meghann is amazing and she is sure to please. www.pinkpaperdesign.com
-Seedling tree favors. These are adorable and with your help each guest can plant a little tree. Think about it...one wedding of 200 guest could potentially produce 200 seedling plantings. Find all kinds of seedlings and other plantings at www.plantamemory.com
-Learn how you can donate your wedding dress to charity at www.idofoundation.org.
-Find a caterer who will provide vegetarian and organic entrees.
-If you are already settled into a home, and do not need kitchenware or furnishings, you may prefer to state on your invitations: "Please no gifts" or "Your presence is your gift to us", or recommend that guests donate to your favorite environmental group in honor of this special occasion.
-Throwing birdseed is a good alternative to throwing rice ONLY if you are having a city wedding, or will be tossing birdseed in a manicured, non wild yard. Standard birdseed mixes contain invasive plants not native to your area, and throwing birdseed in a natural wedding spot, like in a nature preserve or state park, can cause havoc to that ecosystem. Alternatives to rice and birdseed are throwing native wildflower seeds or petals, ringing handballs, or blowing homemade bubbles from recyclable containers.
We hope these ideas will help you to Go Green! for your wedding. Enjoy!

MTV is Calling!
To all our adventure seeking brides..... We just had a great conversation with Sarah Geismer, the associate Producer of "MTV's True Life: I'm a Newlywed" and she has asked us to pass along this fun and exciting information to all our brides. They are producing a segment on newlyweds and have asked our salon to participate. Any of you who may be interested, MTV's contact information is below.

True Life: I'm a Newlywed
Are you and your fiancé about to begin life as a married couple? Going from engagement to the altar is a journey full of challenges that test the strength of your relationship, but it only gets harder once you say your vows.
Do your friends and family think you and your fiancé are moving too fast by getting married? Are you experiencing a lot of drama because of who you're marrying and are worried that might continue after the wedding? Will you be moving in together for the first time right after the wedding and think that married life is going to be a big change for you and/or your fiancé? Are you feeling nervous about making this lasting commitment?
If you appear to be between the ages of 18-28 and would like to share your story, MTV wants to hear from you! Email us at newlywed@mtvn.com and tell us as much about your situation as possible. Also, please be sure to include your name, location, phone number and photo.]
